Benetiz's heroics inspired Club America to a 4-0 win over Pachuca, whilst Tijuana were held to a scoreless draw at home to struggling San Luis.

Benitez opened the scoring midway through the first half and wrapped up the win with two goals in the last nine minutes, after Raul Jimenez had made it 2-0 nine minutes into the second half.

The win leave Club America just a point behind the Tijuana with one match to play, but Toluca are also in striking distance, only a point behind in third with three games to play.

Elsewhere, Jhonfai Fabian netted seven minutes from time to give Guadalajara a 1-0 success over winless Queretaro, while substitute Alan Pulido's 62nd-minute goal gave Tigres Monterrey victory by the same margin at Monterrey.
