Ajaccio's Yohan Cavalli and Bastia's Gael Angoula have both been banned for four games by the Ligue 1 disciplinary commission, following their role in a brawl during the Corsica derby last weekend.

Ten minutes from the end of the match, Cavall, 31, and Angoula, 30, clashed after a tackle, leading to a fight between both sets of players.

The incident then led to trouble in the crowd as well as firecracker explosions on the pitch, resulting in the referee having to stop the match for a few minutes.

Both players have since expressed their regret at the part they played in the trouble, which took place in the first Corsica derby in Ligue 1 for seven years.

''I spoiled the match," Angoula told L'Equipe.

While Cavalli echoed his opponent, saying: "We didn't show a positive image. I saw Gael after the match and we talked with each other. There is no problem anymore."
