Giovanni Trapattoni will retain his job as Republic of Ireland manager after receiving support from the Football Association of Ireland.

Trapattoni, 73, had been under severe pressure ever since last week's embarrassing 6-1 thrashing at home to Germany in World Cup qualifying last week.
However, the veteran Italian boss responded by leading Ireland to a 4-1 victory over the Faroe Islands on Tuesday, and that appears to have reassured the FAI.
"The board recognises the depth of feeling surrounding the team, the performances, the results and the manager, reflecting the passion which everyone in Irish football has for the game and will continue to work closely with the manager," an FAI statement read.
Trapattoni oversaw Ireland qualification for Euro 2012, their first appearance at a major international finals for a decade, though the tournament brought three defeats and a group stage exit.
