New Zealand maintained their 100% record in World Cup qualifying as they defeated Tahiti 2-0 at Stade Pater Papeete.

Shane Smeltz struck on 24 minutes before Ben Sigmund wrapped up the win with eight minutes left on the clock to make it three wins from as many matches for New Zealand, with Tahiti pointless at the foot of the standings.

New Caledonia remain within three points of the group leaders after they recorded an emphatic 6-2 win over Solomon Islands.

Georges Gope-Fenepej helped himself to a hat-trick at Lawson Tama Stadium while an own goal from Tome Faisi and efforts from Roy Kayara and Jacques Haeko wrapped up the victory.

Solomon Islands, whose consolation goals came from Tutizama Tanito and Joses Nawo, remain on three points from their opening three qualifiers.
