The Catalan club's latest victory came at Getafe as they thrashed the Madrid outfit 4-1 to move two points clear of Malaga at the top of the table.

Despite starting on the bench Lionel Messi got two goals for the Blaugrana while David Villa and Adriano got their names on the scoresheet in a dominant display, but Pique wants to keep things calm at Camp Nou.

"We played a good game," Pique told Barcelona's official website. "The conditions weren't the best because we were coming off of playing matches for our respective national teams and we had a couple of players missing due to injury. But the field was in good condition, the pitch was perfect. We dominated the game."

Due to their flawless start, Barcelona already find themselves eight points clear of their great rivals Real Madrid, but Pique is refusing to get carried away.

"We've only played four games, this (the gap over Real) isn't that important. We're feeling good, though. We've won four out of four games. We have to continue like this," Pique explained.

Midfielder Xavi is used to Barcelona controlling matches, and felt Saturday's game was a classic example of that.

"We played football really well, we dominated from the start," the Spain midfielder said. "Getafe closed themselves off at the back but we played at a high level and we deserved the win.

"We played with a lot of intensity and tension, we dominated possession, we didn't commit silly fouls and we didn't lose the ball needlessly. We've matured, the team played really well today."

Xavi added that the team need to take this form into their first Champions League game with Spartak Moscow.

"I'm very excited about the Champions League and I'm very eager. We start off at home and we have to win. We're very motivated, we've won all the points in the Liga so far and we want to start off our Champions League campaign with a victory."
