World Cup Qualifier - Germany 3-0 Faroe Islands
Germany manager Joachim Low has lamented his side's wastefulness in front of goal despite beating the Faroe Islands 3-0 in their World Cup qualifying opener.
Two goals from Mesut Ozil added to Mario Gotze's opener, as the Germans eased themselves to the three points to put them top of Group C.
"It was clear to see from the beginning that we wanted to score, but our problem at the moment is we waste a lot of chances," Germany manager Joachim Low admitted. "Not only in this game have we needed a lot of opportunities to score."
It wasn't the toughest start for Germany, who will have to face the likes of Sweden and Austria in upcoming qualifiers.
"The Faroe Islands aren't the benchmark for other teams we will have to play in this group," Low said.
The Faroe Islands' Danish coach Lars Olsen felt that his side should have offered more resistance to the German's after the break.
"The goalkeeper and the defence played well, but I have to say I am a little disappointed with the second-half goals, because we had spoken about the Germans being one of the best teams in the world for counter-attacks," he said.
"Ball possession was something like 85% for them to our 15, so I can only say I am satisfied with our performance."
