Nzonzi, 23, joins Charlie Adam and Maurice Edu as a new recruit at the Britannia, with the move believed to have cost Stoke in the region of £3 million.

The French midfielder had been out of the picture at Ewood Park after he submitted a transfer request.

His former team-mate David Goodwillie has also left Ewood Park, moving to fellow Champoionship side Crystal Palace on loan until January.

But Blackburn have also added to their ranks, bringing in Portuguese duo Diogo Rosado, a 22-year-old midfielder from Sporting Lisbon, and Nuno Henrique, a 23-year-old defender from Academia.

They have also signed Polish goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski on a season-long loan deal from Genk.
