Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists there is nothing to say about Fulham's complaint in regards to the Reds' interest in Clint Dempsey.
Fulham approached the Premier League to express its unhappiness with what it felt was Liverpool's public pursuit of the United States international.
Fulham manager Martin Jol feels Dempsey has been distracted by the speculation and after leaving him out of the squad for last weekend's opening fixture, he will do the same again Saturday against Manchester United.
However, Rodgers insisted the club had made their response privately to the Premier League and would not be commenting any further.
"For me, there is nothing to say on it," the Northern Irishman said. "This was something I was aware of a number of weeks ago. That has been dealt with in-house."
Fulham scored five without Dempsey last week against Norwich, but Jol knows that scoring will be far tougher against big clubs.
"If you look at last season against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, Clint was always the one," the Fulham manager said. "He's like a striker, always on the end of things. We had quite a few remarkable results because of that last season. It's not only about teams like Norwich, it's also about Man United and Chelsea and Clint always played a good part in those games.
Fulham finished a respectable ninth last season, but Jol is aware of the critical role played by Dempsey, who scored 23 goals in 45 appearances.
"Normally, if you can keep all the players and add one or two more, you can say we can make a step again, but now it's not easy because of Clint," Jol said. "He was our top scorer and before last Saturday, I didn't know where the goals were coming from. (Mladen) Petric stood up and Bryan Ruiz will be a different player, so hopefully, we will cope with the situation and build a new team.
Liverpool has distanced itself from suggestions they wanted to sign Dempsey, but one player set to arrive at Anfield on loan is Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.
Rodgers said hopes the deal for Sahin can be completed "in the next 24 hours."
"He is a great technician. He was player of the season in Germany, captain of Dortmund and fantastic at a very young age," Rodgers said of Sain.
Sahin, 23, was not expected to be registered with the Premier League in time to play any part against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. But Rodgers is confident that the Turkey international will shine on Merseyside after an injury-hit year in Spain.
"He got a move to Real Madrid and obviously through injury it has not quite worked out for him," Rodgers said. "But he is a wonderful player technically and tactically who understands the game and we hope his extra quality coming in will help the group."
