Portugal Round-Up

Champions Porto held away

August 20, 2012

Last season's Liga champions Porto could only manage a goalless draw in their opening game of the season away to Gil Vicente at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos.

Sporting Lisbon were also left frustrated as they drew 0-0 at Guimaraes, although 10-man Vitoria Setubal came from two goals down to draw 2-2 away at Nacional with all the goals coming in the last 20 minutes.

Uedson Ney Santos was sent off for Vitoria in the 70th minute before a penalty from Ferreira Claudemir gave Nacional the lead. A goal from Daniel Candeias five minutes later looked to have sealed the win before an Albert Ze Meyong penalty and a goal from Cristiano Oliveira five minutes from time meant the away side earnt a share of the spoils.

Pagos de Ferreira and Moreirense played out a 1-1 draw at the Estadio da Mata Real. The home side were leading at half-time courtesy of Andri Leco's 38th minute strike before Fabio Espinho equalised 10 minutes from time.
