Blackburn Rovers have failed in an audacious bid to take John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City.

Manager Steve Kean had hoped to get Guidetti in to spearhead Blackburn's promotion push, but City would prefer to sell the Sweden striker rather than loan him out and Rovers are reluctant to pay their £6 million asking price.
The 20-year-old scored 20 goals during a loan spell at Feyenoord last season, earning a first international call up, but has never featured in City's first team.
Rovers have also had two offers for Huddersfield's 40-goal striker Jordan Rhodes rejected as they try to find a replacement for £3 million summer signing Leon Best, who will be out for six months with a knee injury.
Attention is now likely to turn to a proven Championship goalscorer as Kean looks to make an eighth signing of the close season.
