Wigan have clinched the signing of Real Mallorca centre-half Ivan Ramis for €5.5 million.

Ramis, who has played almost 200 games for Mallorca and Valladolid, had been linked with a host of clubs including Everton, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Celtic, while he had also agreed in principle on a move to West Ham.
However, chairman Dave Whelan told ESPN: "He has passed his medical and it is being concluded. It's down to the influence of Roberto [Martinez] because the player doesn't speak English and didn't want to go to West Ham who had agreed a deal.
"But Roberto asked me to go out to Mallorca where I met their chairman and with the club in receivership; they accepted my offer and then I went to see the player."
Ramis is Wigan's first major signing of the summer and Whelan added that they are looking at other targets before the window slams shut.
