West Ham United have announced the signing of Swiss goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel from Grasshopper Club Zurich.

Spiegel, 19, joins the Hammers for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three-year contract with the option of a further year.

The shot-stopper is capped for his country at Under-20 level, while last season he spent time on loan at SC Bruhl SG.

Spiegel will provide cover and look to learn from senior 'keepers Jussi Jaaskelainen and Stephen Henderson, the pair having joined from Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth respectively.
