• Forest yet to contact Hoddle

Former England boss Hoddle, who has not accepted a job offer since leaving Wolves in 2006, is tempted by the chance to take charge at the City Ground following the takeover by the Al-Hawai family from Kuwait.

ESPN understands Hoddle has returned from a holiday in Spain to be interviewed about the chance to succeed Steve Cotterill, who was sacked after the takeover was completed.

Mick McCarthy had previously been favourite to take the job but is understood to have withdrawn as he was unable to secure guarantees that he would have full control over football matters, and this might be an issue that would dissuade Hoddle from taking the post.

It is reported that Forest are due to hold talks with a number of other candidates on Wednesday.
