Aberdeen have signed winger Niall McGinn on a two-year deal following the expiry of his Celtic contract.

McGinn, 24, had moved to Parkhead from Derry City in 2009 but had limited first-team opportunities and was allowed to join League One side Brentford on loan last season.

McGinn, who has made 18 appearances for Northern Ireland, said: "Aberdeen is a massive club and I'm really looking forward to be back playing in Scotland.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Brentford last season and playing week in week out has, I believe, made me a better player. Craig Brown has big plans for the club and I definitely want to be a part of that."
