Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed the imminent signing of Spanish defender Alvaro Dominguez from Atletico Madrid to replace the departing Dante.
Dominguez, 23, will sign a five-year deal at the club after completing a medical at the Bundesliga side on Wednesday morning.
"Alvaro Dominguez was the player we wanted as our left-sided central defender, which we needed to find following Dante's move to Bayern Munich,'' Gladbach director of sport Max Eberl said.
"He was a starting regular for Atletico Madrid, won the Europa League in 2010 and 2012 and recently broke into the Spain national team. We are proud that he has decided to join Borussia.''
Borussia Monchengladbach will take part in their first continental campaign in three decades next season, but will do so having lost key defender Dante to Bayern Munich, as well as creative star Marco Reus to Borussia Dortmund.
Dominguez made 28 appearances in the Spanish Primera Liga last campaign, besides a further 12 games in the Europa League. He will now join up with the Foals for pre-season in July as they prepare to compete with the European elite.
