West Bromwich Albion could hold on to defender Jonas Olsson for the final year of his contract even if he decides against signing a new Hawthorns deal.

Olsson, 29, who has become a key figure for the Baggies, is due to hold talks with new manager Steve Clarke about his future after returning to England from Euro 2012.

The Swedish international, who has been linked with a move to Spurs, joined West Brom in an £800,000 move from NEC Nijmegen four years ago.

Baggies sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth told the Wolverhampton Express and Star: "There wasn't a huge outlay on a transfer fee, so we don't need to make a huge amount of money back if we decide to run the contract down.

"We would have to weigh it up and decide whether there is a transfer offer that meets the value of getting a replacement.

"It's a difficult one to answer because we haven't had any offers and I don't want to sell him."
