Granada coach Abel Resino has quit as coach of Granada, just a few weeks after ensuring the side's La Liga future.

Resino, 52, was brought in by the club in January following the dismissal of Fabriciano Gonzalez and saw the club to safety.

However, on Wednesday, Resino confirmed that he would not be looking to extend his deal in Andalusia.

"Cycles come to an end but good times are unforgettable,'' Resino told his personal website. "In these last few months Granada, their fans and people have filled me with fond memories that I will always carry with me."

Granada later responded to the announcement with an official statement: "Granada CF would like to thank Abel Resino for the technical work performed in our institution in recent months, and having achieved the goal for which he was hired.

"The board of directors and all employees want to wish him all the best of luck in his future career.''

Granada's La Liga campaign faltered amid a run of just two wins in eight games - including defeats in their final two fixtures - but they survived the drop in 17th place, a point clear of relegated Villarreal.
