Catania have announced that coach Vincenzo Montella is set to leave the club.

Montella, who has been strongly linked with the Fiorentina job, had led Catania to 11th in Serie A during his sole season in charge.

Catania had been eager to retain the 37-year-old, but general manager Sergio Gasparin recently acknowledged that it would be difficult to do so given the level of interest in his services.

On Monday, a statement on Catania's website confirmed that he is set to depart. It read: "The club have announced that it has been agreed in principle to terminate the relationship with coach Vincenzo Montella."
