Veteran AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has confirmed he will leave the club and Serie A at the end of the season.

• Nesta has no plans to retire
Nesta, 36, announced at a press conference on Thursday that he will part company with Milan when his contract expires in the summer.
The centre-back will not remain in Italy but does wish to continue his playing career, and it has been speculated a switch to MLS side Red Bulls could be in the offing.
He said: "This is my last season at Milan, I'll leave now. I wouldn't mind going to the USA to play, but I have other choices as well.
"I am no longer in good enough shape to cope with the rhythms of Serie A. I would like to keep playing and enjoy myself."
Nesta joined Milan from Lazio in 2002 and has since made over 200 league appearances for the club, helping them lift the Serie A title on two occasions.
