Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis has claimed he was racially abused by supporters of lower league side Gazelec Ajaccio during the Coupe de France semi-final.

The France international's late goal rounded off his side's 4-0 win over the 10-man Championnat National side, but he was booked after cupping his ears to the home crowd in celebration.

Gomis told L'Equipe: ''After my goal, I cupped my hands behind my ears because I had heard monkey chants during the match. I even had a banana thrown at me. I got carried away. I thought about my black brothers but I should have held myself back.''

Lyon's qualification for April 28's final means their match against Evian, scheduled for the following day, will have to be rearranged.

It will be Lyon's second domestic final of the season, with the club now preparing for Saturday's Coupe de la Ligue showpiece against Marseille, while they also remain in contention for third place in the league.

And assistant coach Bruno Genesio told the club website: ''The Coupe de la Ligue final will be very difficult because OM's season comes down to this match. But we are full of confidence and this win is ideal preparation.''

Defender Dejan Lovren added: ''We knew it would be a hostile atmosphere. It was very important to reach the final.

''We are happy to be in a second final and I think we can win the two domestic cups. Third place is still open, it will be difficult but it is very important for the club.''
