Tigres storm to top of table

April 1, 2012

Tigres Monterrey went top of the Clausura table in style by beating Morelia 4-1.

The match was finely poised after a first half which saw Elias Hernandez open the scoring for Tigres in the 14th minute and Miguel Sabah equalise seven minutes later.

But the hosts pulled away after the break thanks to goals from half-time substitute Edno Cunha (57), Lucas Lobos (68) and Damian Alvarez (75).

The result put them two points clear of Santos Laguna, who go to Toluca on Sunday, and Morelia.

Omar Bravo scored twice as Cruz Azul came from behind to beat San Luis 3-1.

Alfredo Moreno opened the scoring in the 15th minute, but Bravo levelled in the 28th minute.

Bravo bagged his second 10 minutes later before Edixon Perea rounded off the scoring eight minutes into the second period.

Ten-man Atlante twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw against Jaguares.

The hosts were a goal and a man down when Luis Rey scored in the 28th minute and Arturo Munoz saw red two minutes after the break, but substitute Michael Arroyo levelled on the hour mark.

Edgar Andrade re-established Jaguares' lead three minutes later, but the 10 men again fought back with Jose Fonseca equalising eight minutes from time.

Lucas Silva scored the only goal as Puebla won 1-0 at Queretaro, while Atlas and Unam Pumas drew 0-0.
