The Columbus Crew picked up their first win in the Eastern Conference with a 2-0 victory over the Montreal Impact.
Montreal had Jeb Brovsky sent off after 19 minutes and Columbus took full advantage, with Milovan Mirosevic - from the penalty spot - and Olman Vargas scoring either side of half-time.
Also off the mark in the East are the New England Revolution, who got the better of the Portland Timbers 1-0 thanks to Saer Sene's first-minute goal.
In the West, FC Toronto were beaten 3-0 at home by San Jose Earthquakes.
The Earthquakes were unstoppable with Chris Wondolowski scoring twice and Sael Salinas also on target.
