Palermo lose Bertolo to ban

March 20, 2012

Palermo have been dealt a blow with Argentinian midfielder Nicolas Bertolo having been slapped with a three-match ban for violent conduct.

Bertolo was sent off during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Lecce after headbutting Lecce's Gennaro Delvecchio.

The South American, who has scored two goals in 22 league appearances for Palermo this season, will miss the Serie A games against Udinese, Bologna and Juventus.

Fiorentina midfielder Alessio Cerci has also been punished with a three-match suspension. Cerci saw red during last Saturday's 5-0 defeat to Juventus after kicking rival Martin Caceris in an off-the-ball incident.

Cerci will sit out the games at Genoa, Chievo as well as the clash at Serie A leaders AC Milan on April 7.

Udinese, meanwhile, will be without Antonio Floro Flores for his team's encounters at Palermo and Siena.

The forward has been handed a two-match ban due to an accumulation of yellow cards and for insulting an official after Sunday's 2-2 draw against Napoli.
