Morelia move top with another win

February 27, 2012

Morelia extended their outstanding start to the Torneo Clausura to move top of the table with victory over Cruz Azul.

A goal in each half from Joao Rojas and Miguel Sabah secured a 2-0 win which leaves Morelia two points ahead of Club America, Monterrey and Tigres Monterrey, after five wins and two draws from their first eight games.

Guadalara were 2-1 winners against Santos Laguna, an overdue first win of the new season. Marco Fabian and Erick Torres put Chivas 2-0 up before Santos pulled a goal back through Herculez Gomez.

Queretaro drew 1-1 at Unam Pumas in the day's other game, Sergio Ponce equalising two minutes after half-time after Juan Carlos Cacho had given the hosts a first-half lead.
