Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is taking heart from the fact his latest injury setback is not a recurrence of the problem that has sidelined him since July.

Wilshere, 20, has not played since the summer on account of an ankle injury, but had been pencilled in to make a playing return in February.

However, it emerged this week that he had suffered a setback in training. There are concerns he will not play at all this season, which will in all likelihood rule him out of this summer's European Championship.

Wilshere has not set any date for his return but is pleased the injury is in a different area of his troublesome foot.

"This is not in the same area as my first injury which has healed, which I am happy about," Wilshere wrote on Twitter. "I have developed a stress fracture in the heel now and I don't know how long it will take. I will update you more in a couple of weeks when I know more."
