No progress in Roma's Georginio Wijnaldum talks - agent

Georginio Wijnaldum's agent says that talks between the Newcastle United midfielder and Roma have yet to reach resolution, reports the Newcastle Chronicle.

The 25-year-old who joined Newcastle in 2011 has asked representatives to find a deal for him away from the newly relegated Championship side, but has yet to make a formal transfer request despite interest from European clubs.

"There has been no progress in negotiations," Humphrey Nijman said about Wijnaldum's possible move to Roma. "There is no new news."

Though Roma are thought to be on the verge of making a formal offer for Wijnaldum, Napoli have also been linked to a possible move for the Dutchman.

Though a number of players look likely to leave the club in the aftermath of relegation, Magpies boss Rafa Benitez opted to stick with the club despite a release clause in his contract, and will ultimately decide whether it is in the club's interest to let players go.

Moussa Sissoko also recently revealed his intention to move on from the Tynesiders, with Arsenal apparently his preferred target club.
