Millwall star Steve Morison blasts playoff final pitch pitch invaders

Millwall striker Steve Morison has criticised the fans who invaded the Wembley pitch after the League One playoff final, saying they "should hang their heads in shame."

Morison scored the 85th-minute winner against Bradford City that earned Millwall promotion to the Championship after two seasons in the third tier, but was angered when fans spilled onto the pitch after the final whistle.

Several hundred made it onto the playing surface -- the first pitch invasion in the history of the new Wembley -- and the Millwall match-winner said their actions had soured the moment of victory.

Millwall chairman John Berylson questioned an apparent lack of stewards, while Wembley said security arrangements would be reviewed ahead of next weekend's FA Cup final.

Morison told reporters: "I've never been so high and so low in such a short period of time.

"I don't want the headlines to be about them. It should be about us, and those people who have ruined it for everyone else should hang their heads in shame.

"But it is what it is. You can't stop people doing stupid things, but it doesn't matter because we've won the game and we know where we'll be playing our football next season."
