No research on Man United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic's knee, says doctor

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's knee will not be the subject of research once his playing days are over, one of the surgeons who operated on him has said.

Manchester United striker Ibrahimovic, 35, suffered a cruciate ligament injury in Manchester United's Europa League win over Anderlecht in April.

After he had undergone surgery in the United States later that month, agent Mino Raiola said: "Zlatan is so storing that the doctor wants him back after his career to research on him."

But speaking to Die Welt, Volker Musahl laughed off that claim and said: "It was a routine operation.

"You have to admit that Zlatan has a very good bone structure and that his knee is top notch, but it would be far-fetched to say his knee will be subject to research."

Musahl said Ibrahimovic was "hugely pleased" with the surgery but stressed that he could not say exactly when the United star would be able to play again.

"Our goal is to bring the athletes back to sports quickly and safely," he said. "And the word safely is very important here."
