Marcus Rashford wants Zlatan Ibrahimovic to extend Man United stay

Marcus Rashford has told the Daily Telegraph he hopes Zlatan Ibrahimovic will extend his stay at Manchester United so he can continue to learn from him.

Ibrahimovic's future is in doubt after he suffered a knee ligament injury that has ended his season, and the 35-year-old has flown to the United States for surgery.

Rashford is set to benefit from the Swedish striker's absence, getting a chance to play in his favoured striker's role.

But the 19-year-old said he hoped Ibrahimovic's time at United was not over because he has not finished learning from a man who has scored more than 400 goals during an 18-year career.

He said: "You will see the benefits in years to come. What I have learnt from him is irreplaceable.

"His influence, on the younger players especially, is fantastic. We want that to continue because he is making us into better players.

"Now, when I go to the left or right, I see it differently to how I pictured it last season.

"They are things I didn't have naturally inside me. I didn't feel uncomfortable in the wide role, but when something is different it takes a while to get used to it.

"For me, the development has been going great all the way through. Next season I think I will have come across most situations that are going to occur."
