Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims Manchester United must develop a killer instinct in front of goal if they are revive their hopes of Champions League qualification.
United face Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday having scored just 19 league goals this season -- a poor return that sees them go into the game already nine points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.
Ibrahimovic, 35, has so far bucked the trend at United by scoring 13 goals in all competitions, but the rest of Jose Mourinho's squad fall well behind the Swede, with none of his teammates currently close to double figures.
And although the former Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain forward believes United are playing better than results suggest, he admits that goal-scoring must improve quickly.
"We have created many chances and sometimes you win 1-0 also," Ibrahimovic said. "But you need to close [the game] at 1-0.
"It hasn't happened yet, but we are working hard. We have learned now that we have to score more than one goal to get the three points.
"We want to kill every game we play. But as long as you create the chances you will score.
"You need to get the three points also. That is more important, but you can get the three points by winning 1-0 and not only 4-0."
United face a fifth-placed Spurs side on a run of seven games unbeaten in all competitions.
Recent draws have halted any momentum, but Ibrahimovic insists United are showing promising signs.
"I think we are performing very good," he said. "The team has got a good balance, we have had some unlucky games.
"Some games we made simple mistakes to concede a goal, but most of our game is good.
"So if we can just get a couple of wins in a row it would give us even more confidence."
