Gabriel Jesus calls Manchester City debut a 'dream come true'

Gabriel Jesus said making his debut for Manchester City was a "a dream come true," even if what he thought was a late winner was ruled out for offside.

With the game against Tottenham level at 2-2, City manager Pep Guardiola brought on Jesus in the 82nd minute, and he came close to scoring a number of times in the closing minutes.

Within moments of coming on the Brazilian sent a looping header inches wide of the post, before his close-range effort was disallowed less than a minute later.

But though he showed early signs of brilliance, Jesus said he still has to adjust to the Premier League.

"I'm happy for this opportunity to debut at City's home," Jesus told ESPN Brasil. "I'm not very glad about the draw. We had the match in our hands.

"I'm getting used to English football. Everything can happen from what we saw today. The speed is different from Brazilian football. I must adapt as quick as I can to do well.

"It was very important for me to come on tonight, to have this confidence from my team-mates and my coach. Unfortunately, I was offside [for the disallowed goal]. I started celebrating while the whole stadium was in silence.

"But it's a dream come true to play in the Premier League."

Guardiola wants to take the pressure of the £27 million striker but was impressed with his debut.

"Jesus has talent but alone cannot do that we have to score goals and we are not able to do that when this happens it's impossible to win," the City boss said.
