Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge starts vs. Palace, Andrew Robertson gets debut

LIVERPOOL -- Daniel Sturridge was named in the starting XI for Liverpool against Crystal Palace on Saturday in their first home match of the Premier League season.

Sturridge returned to full training this week after recovering from a thigh injury sustained when scoring against Bayern Munich in a preseason friendly.

Meanwhile, Andrew Robertson was given his competitive Liverpool debut at left-back following his summer move from Hull City, with Alberto Moreno rested.

As manager Jurgen Klopp hinted in the build-up to the Palace game, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be given a rest after his goal at Hoffenheim on Tuesday.

Joe Gomez will start at right-back as first-choice Nathaniel Clyne continues to be out injured with a back problem.

However, the wantaway Philippe Coutinho continues to be absent from the Liverpool side, with what Klopp says is a back injury.
