Liverpool announce 'significant' new shirt sleeve sponsorship deal

Liverpool have announced that U.S. company Western Union will become their first-ever shirt sleeve sponsor, signing a five-year deal.

Olly Dale, Liverpool's commercial director, described the agreement -- announced at a news conference on Wednesday -- as "significant."

It means the Western Union logo will be displayed on the left sleeve of Liverpool's kits.

Liverpool CEO Peter Moore said the deal gave the club "the ability to drive more resources to help Jurgen Klopp and his team live up to our on-pitch ambitions in a year when we're ready to go into the Champions League."

The club have said the Western Union shirt-sleeve patch will be available free to supporters who have purchased an official 2017-18 shirt from their retail outlets.
