Liverpool can do something great this year - Jordan Henderson

Liverpool's England international midfielder Jordan Henderson reckons his team "can definitely do something great" with the help of his new teammates.

The Reds have been busy in the summer transfer window, bringing in Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan, and Loris Karius, along with big-money signings Saido Mane (£34 million) and Georginio Wijnaldum (£23m) from Southampton and Newcastle United respectively.

Manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that the new signings can help Liverpool go one better, after taking the Anfield giants to two finals -- the League Cup and Europa League -- last season, despite only taking the hot seat in October.

Captain Henderson is positive that the team will now have the experience, coupled with the fresh impetus from the new boys, to make it a season to remember.

"I think you've got to use both of those experiences as best you can," the England midfielder told the club's website.

"They were disappointing defeats but hopefully if we get there in another final soon then we know exactly what to expect and use that drive to push on even more.

"The experiences we had last season, I felt as though we improved throughout the season and I think we'll just continue to improve.

"We've got new faces coming in who'll improve the squad and I feel as though we're going in the right direction.

"With the team we've got and the manager we've got, we can definitely do something great this year.

"We've got to just focus on ourselves. There have been a lot of changes at other clubs but I'm very confident we can do well this season."

While Henderson is looking forward to the new season after his injury-ravaged time on the sidelines last year, it remains to be seen if Klopp is looking to cash in on the former Sunderland man.
