Jurgen Klopp coy on Joe Allen's future at Liverpool amid Stoke links

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remained tight-lipped regarding the future of midfielder Joe Allen.

Reports in the UK suggest the Reds have accepted a £13 million bid from Stoke City for the Welsh international. Allen's future at Anfield has been up in the air with just 12 months remaining on his current contract. However, Klopp refused to comment on the supposed interest from the Premier League outift.

Speaking at a news conference after his side's 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town, Klopp said: "I feel good, but all I would say about this would be to say something about transfers or not transfers! I like the guy, I really think he's a wonderful football player.

"But I knew this before the European Championship, during the European Championship, and now, but it's all about respecting a contract, to negotiate or not, to make a transfer or not -- that's it, there is nothing to discuss properly.

"I didn't see him since the middle of May [in] Basel. When there's something to say about this, I'll call you [reporters]."

Eighteen-year-old goalkeeper Shamal George made his Liverpool debut away at Huddersfield, but bizarrely appeared as a striker when the Reds had no other outfield players on the bench and Lucas Levia had to come off injured.

"They told me from the bench after I'd organised the system with 10 [men] and they said, 'Come on, we have Shamal!'" Klopp chuckled.

There were calls from Liverpool supporters at the John Smith's Stadium to let George take a penalty that was awarded late on, which Alberto Moreno went on to convert. However, Klopp didn't share their wishes.

He said: "Even though it doesn't look like it all the time, for us these games are quite serious, so we don't want to make a joke of it!

"It's nice for the crowd but in no game in the world should we make funny decisions. If it's 4-0, 5-0, we can think about it, but even then it's a lack of respect for the opponent."
