Riyad Mahrez: 'English' style helped Leicester in UCL clash at Sevilla

Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez said his side's "English football" had helped get them back into Wednesday night's Champions League game at Sevilla.

The Premier League champions were 2-0 down and being outplayed in Spain before Jamie Vardy scored what could be a crucial away goal 17 minutes from the end.

That left manager Claudio Ranieri hailing his side's resilience after he had demanded more from the players at half-time.

And Mahrez told BeIN SPORTS: "We knew it wasn't going to be easy. The most important thing was to score an away goal. We did that, and we still have every chance.

"Claudio Ranieri told us that their football was all about possession, and that ours was English football.

"So we had to get stuck into them on the first and second balls, we had to win challenges, and we managed to do that at certain times in the game.

"We managed to score a goal that keeps us alive. We also had some counter-attack opportunities that, if we had handled better, we would have caused them even more problems.

"But I'm not going to be picky."
