Award-winning Claudio Ranieri admits Leicester's title push took a toll

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri picked up another award to mark his team's stunning Premier League title campaign in the 2015-16 season, while admitting the achievement may have taken its toll.

The Italian was presented with the Laureus Spirit of Sport award in Monaco by compatriot and former England boss Fabio Capello.

Leicester are battling to beat the drop this season, in a drastic change of fortunes after last term's remarkable trophy-winning feat.

Ranieri said after receiving the award on behalf of the club: "It's unbelievable what we achieved last season and maybe we are paying something this year.

"We are in the battle to be relegated. But it's okay. It was an amazing year.

"We were together, we involved all the people in Leicester and I think also around the world because we felt adopted by all the world, and I want to say thank you again to my lads because what we did last year was terrific.''
