Leicester to give Ben Chilwell new deal amid Liverpool interest - sources

Leicester defender Ben Chilwell is set to end speculation over his future by signing a new deal at the club, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

Highly rated full-back Chilwell has been a target for Liverpool this summer, with the Premier League champions rejecting a bid for him earlier this summer.

Chilwell is entering the final year of his contract at Leicester and the club have been locked in talks with the England under-20 international for some time over a new deal.

The 19-year-old is well-regarded within the King Power Stadium and they see the left-back as a future star in Claudio Ranieri's side, sources said.

Chilwell played just two FA Cup matches in January for Leicester last season as he could not displace Christian Fuchs from the title-winning Foxes side.

He enjoyed a loan spell at Huddersfield last season and is set to play more of a part in Ranieri's first-team next season as Leicester have to contend with the demands of the Champions League next term.

News of Chilwell's new deal will come as a blow to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who had earmarked the young defender as one of his top targets this summer.
