Valencia president Amadeo Salvo says his club will agree a new contract with emerging left-back Jose Gaya, to ward off interest from Real Madrid in the youngster.
Gaya, 19, is the latest zippy left-back off the Mestalla production line which has also produced Barcelona's Jordi Alba and Bayern Munich's Juan Bernat. The Alicante-born player's impressive performances in his first season as a starter have even led to reports that Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque could soon call him up to the senior side.
AS recently claimed that Madrid see the Alicante-born youngster as the "new Roberto Carlos," and are readying an 18 million euro offer for this summer, and that Manchester City had also already shown an interest.
Gaya was included on Tuesday in La Liga's "Top defenders of the month."

The Los Che club chief told the club's official radio station that he was aware of the media reports linking Gaya with the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu club, but was confident that ongoing contract talks would end with the youngster committing his future to Valencia.
"We are making an effort with Gaya because we believe he is worth it," Salvo said. "He is a youngster with potential, but already a real player. All parties want to do a deal, and we will reach an agreement. When they come from Madrid, there is the same song [in the media] every day. But you must draw the line and say enough. Gaya is an extraordinary kid, we want him to stay but these things take time. He wants to stay with us and we are going to work on it."
