Calf injury threatens to end Robbie Brady's season, confirms Hull boss

Hull City boss Steve Bruce fears Robbie Brady's season could be over.

Bruce revealed after his side's 1-0 Premier League loss at Stoke on Saturday that Tigers wide man Brady had missed the game due to a calf injury he sustained in training 24 hours earlier.

And, giving further information on the Republic of Ireland international's condition, Bruce said: "Unfortunately Brady has fallen down a hole in the training ground and it looks an awful injury, I have to say.

"We won't know the extent of it until he has had scans.

"After seeing him on Friday I doubt he will be available for weeks. It could be the rest of the season."

Hull were also without their top scorer Nikica Jelavic on Saturday due to a knee issue, although Bruce is hopeful the Croatian striker will be able to play in Tuesday's home clash with Sunderland.

The manager said: "He has got a chance (for Tuesday) but as I've said it is always a bit of a chance with him because he has had a serious knee operation and I keep saying this but he probably came back a little bit too quick."

Bruce -- whose side are 15th, four points clear of the relegation zone -- added: "I told the press on Friday that everyone was okay and then Jelavic comes in with his knee twice the size it should be and then Brady's got injured doing nothing.

"But it is what it is, we've got enough firepower and we have another game on Tuesday that comes into the category of a big game. Let's hope that we can win it."

Sunderland are a point worse off than Hull and lie one place below them in 16th.
