Coutinho the 'little magician' can take Liverpool a long way, says Lallana

Adam Lallana insists Liverpool can "go far" with players like Philippe Coutinho after the Brazilian's brilliant winner spurred them to a 2-1 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

For the second week running, Coutinho found the net with a sublime strike, which earned all three points against the Premier League champions at Anfield.

Liverpool were knocked out of the Europa League on penalties at Besiktas on Thursday, with Brendan Rodgers' side only returning to the UK at 4.30 a.m. on Friday morning. With little time to prepare for the visit of City, Lallana was pleased with the response.

"That's a massive win for us," Lallana told Sky Sports after the game. "We've got momentum, they're the champions and we deserved it.

"The little magician -- Coutinho -- at the end, coming up with wonderful goal. With players like that we'll go far.

"Our system has been causing problems for opponents, the manager [Rodgers] said keep patient and find the space. We thought we were unlucky not to go in ahead at half-time.

"The lads showed character, many played extra time in midweek and had a long flight but we showed we can keep fighting."

Jordan Henderson opened the scoring for the home side with an equally as impressive strike, before Edin Dzeko finished off a slick City move to level the scores before half-time.

Henderson added: "It was just a break and Raheem found us. I took a touch and thought: 'Have a go.' Thankfully it went in.

"We showed great character to stay in the game and Philippe won it for us with a fantastic goal. We have to keep going now, every game is big. Burnley will be a tough game for us, but this result will give us great confidence."
