MSL: Captain Hairuddin confident despite ATM's winless streak

Malaysia Super League side ATM FA captain Hairuddin Omar is still confident that his team can have a successful season ahead despite opening their campaign with three consecutive losses.

B. Sathianathan's team were seen as potential title contenders at the start of the season after a major overhaul of the squad, with Malaysian international striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha and Honduras forward Jerry Palacios joining the Gladiators.

While ATM have lost their first three league games (Kelantan 2-0, Perak 2-0 and Felda United 2-1), the boys in red and blue will have a chance to kick start their season with a FA Cup second round game against Premier League side T-Team on Saturday.

Speaking to The Star, Hairuddin said: "We cannot lose anymore matches. All we need is a win to regain our confidence. Once we hit the right note and get our rhythm, we should start playing well and win matches."

With Sathianathan boldly setting a target of one title and a top-three finish before the season began, the Gladiators need their new strike force of Norshahrul and Palacios to start firing on all cylinders, with the former scoring the only ATM goal in three matches.

Three other new recruits, Marko Karlovic, Obinna Nwaneri and Abdulafees Abdulsalam have also failed to prove their worth, only managing to show glimpses of their potential in the opening fortnight of the campaign.
