Jurgen Klopp: Borussia Dortmund still have a chance despite Juventus loss

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp said his side were second best in their 2-1 Champions League last-16 first-leg defeat to Juventus, but feels the result still gives them a good chance of progressing to the quarterfinals.

Juve recorded a home win thanks to strikes from Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata, although Dortmund netted an important away goal in between the two through Marco Reus.

And while Klopp accepts his side deserved to lose the clash due to their second-half performance, he is still hopeful they can turn things around in the second leg at the Westfalenstadion.

"Yes, the result is fair," he told reporters. "We did lots really, really well in first half, but we conceded two soft goals. In the second half, I had to change early on. Juve had two big chances and I can't remember any big chances we had. If we were to lose, then we had to hold it at 2-1, and we did that. And now we move on."

He added: "We weren't surprised -- Juve play this way. We just lost the ball in the wrong places and Juve hit us on the break. Nothing surprised me tonight. I was surprised there was no yellow card for the foul on Lukasz Piszczek, but they were very strong opponents.

"There wasn't more in the game for us today so we've got to accept the result."

Klopp was disappointed with the goals Dortmund conceded in Turin, believing his defence to have allowed Juve's attackers too much space in their own half.

"On the one side we had shown respect for Juve's quality and that led to us defending a bit deeper," he said. "The second goal was because we were too deep. To leave Morata room a few yards out is not a good idea. We did concede unnecessary goals.

"I don't think Juve have often been under as much pressure as we put them tonight, although we get nothing for that. We're still in the race after this result and that's the most important thing."
