Daley Blind: Honesty is United boss Louis van Gaal's best quality

Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind has said he believes honesty is Louis van Gaal's best quality as a manager.

Blind joined United for around 14 million pounds from Ajax in the summer, having worked with Van Gaal at the World Cup.

He told Inside United: "I really admire that he's always himself. He's always really honest to everyone about his ideas and what he wants. I think that's a good thing in a person, because you know where you stand as a player. That's what I really admire about him."

The 24-year-old said fellow countryman Robin van Persie had helped him settle in at Old Trafford, adding: "Everyone gave me a warm welcome -- I felt good from the beginning."

United remain a point clear of Southampton in fourth place after losing at Swansea on Saturday, but Liverpool moved within two points of them after victory over the Saints on Sunday.

Blind's teammate Juan Mata said United must respond quickly at home to Sunderland on Saturday, writing on his official blog: "Now we must stand up again, look ahead and make it up to our fans this weekend at Old Trafford against Sunderland.

"As I keep saying every week, and now even more, it is vital to win games.

"Our main rivals don't slow down, and the race for the Champions League spots is closer than ever. We are approaching the most important moment of the season, and we must deliver in order to get our goals."
