Mauro Icardi says he is likely to stay for duration of Inter Milan contract

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has said he believes he will stay at the club until the end of his contract in 2018.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a summer move to Liverpool, with Chelsea and Manchester United also reported to be interested, but he told the "Grand Hotel Chiambretti" TV show he was likely to honour the five-year deal he signed in 2013.

"I think I will stay until the end of the contract," he said.

When the show's host told him he could earn three million euros per season in the Premier League rather than the 800,000 he is reported to be paid in Italy, he said: "But if they want me to England, they have to pay Inter."

Earlier this month, the Argentine forward said he would be flattered if Liverpool, United or Chelsea were interested in him.

Those comments came after reports that United had scouted him during Inter's 3-0 victory over Palermo on Feb. 8.

"If the ones [rumours] about United, Chelsea and Liverpool were real, I would be honoured, because they are big clubs -- but I'm already in a great team where I can win something important," he told reporters.

Icardi, who has won one full cap for Argentina, has also been linked with Juventus.

But Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said the club were not worried about losing him.

"The expiry of his contract is not so close for us to worry about it, and his agent doesn't live in Milan so we can't see him every day," he said.

"Even if we're only taking small steps, one every month, there's no reason to be worried.

"Mauro's happy at Inter. He chose us, 'marrying' our project, and if you were to ask him today, he would say the very same things I am saying."
