Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon says Jose Mourinho couldn't handle the pressure at Real Madrid, which is why his tenure with the Spanish giants only lasted three seasons.
Mourinho was in charge at Madrid from 2010-13 and won the Copa del Rey in his first season and a La Liga title in his second, but left the club under pressure and in disarray, according to Calderon.
"To be a manager of Real Madrid is really, really difficult," Calderon told the BBC. "See what happened to [Jose] Mourinho. He is someone who is used to coping with pressure and he couldn't.
"When [Mourinho] left, things were in a really bad situation. He had to leave the club after three years of a lot of problems, a lot of confrontations."
Mourinho never delivered a 10th European crown for Real Madrid and had a reported falling out with goalkeeper Iker Casillas during his final season before the club and manager reached a mutual agreement to part ways.
The comments came as Calderon was speculating on the future of current Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who led Real to Champions League glory last season, and the job he's been doing with the club thus far.
"To be here more than two, three years is really a big task," Calderon said. "I think [Ancelotti] has done a very good job, not only because he won the Champions League but because things are calm, relaxed and everything is smooth.
"I have read Joachim Low is one manager we would like, but it is always rumour and we will have the rumours until the next five months when it is decided whether definitely Ancelotti will be here."
