Man City to sell Kompany, Toure, Nasri to make me coach, jokes Slaven Bilic

Slaven Bilic has dismissed reports linking him with becoming Manchester City manager this summer by joking that the club will sell Samir Nasri, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure to fund a deal.

Bilic, 46, is currently coaching Turkish Super Lig leaders Besiktas, but has been linked with a job at Premier League champions City should the club decide to part company with Manuel Pellegrini this summer.

However, the former Croatia international laughed off the rumours and reaffirmed his commitment to his current team, who face Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

When asked about the reports by tportal, Bilic replied: "Yes, I have already received an offer from Manchester City, they said they will sell Nasri, Kompany and Toure just to get me. Ha ha!

"Of course there is no offer, and my ambitions lie with Besiktas."

Bilic played for West Ham and Everton between 1996 and 2000, and eventually went on to coach the Croatian national side for six years.

Pellegrini's future seemed secure last summer after guiding City to the 2013-14 Premier League title, though the holders now sit seven points behind table-toppers Chelsea and exited the FA Cup at home to Middlesbrough.

City also face a difficult Champions League last-16 tie against Barcelona, who knocked them out at the same stage of last season's competition.
