Chelsea and Everton charged with failing to control players by FA

Chelsea and Everton have both been charged by the Football Association with failing to control their players during their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Tempers flared during the Blues' 1-0 win when Gareth Barry tripped Willian in the 86th minute -- earning himself a second yellow card -- before a melee then ensued, which involved Branislav Ivnaovic motioning his head towards James McCarthy.

While Ivanovic will not face any further action in relation to the incident, both clubs could now be hit with a punishment by the FA.

"Both Chelsea and Everton have been charged by the FA for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour," an official FA statement read.

"It follows an incident in the 86th minute of Wednesday night's game at Stamford Bridge.

"Both clubs have until 6pm on 17 February 2015 to respond to the charge."
