Keylor Navas is staying at Real Madrid, his father insists

Keylor Navas will not be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season, his father has said.

Goalkeeper Navas, 28, has made six appearances, only two of them in La Liga, since joining the European champions from Levante in the summer.

The Costa Rica international is reported to be a target for Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool.

But Freddy Navas told Costa Rican newspaper La Nacion, in quotes reported by the Press Association: "Everything that is being said is a complete lie. Keylor told me that he is not leaving Real Madrid.

"He is very happy there. Keylor knows he has to fight to earn a starting place. It's a process that he is accepting very well.

"He is a fighter who wants to work and succeed at the club."

Navas, whose crucial saves helped Costa Rica reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Brazil last year, is under contract until June 2020.

"He is living a dream at Real," his spokesman Kristhian Arguedas told La Nacion. "He is very happy there.

"He signed a six-year contract and he intends to respect it."
