Former U.S. star Landon Donovan revealed he has "never been this happy" since he began his retirement, and announced he is engaged to be married.
Donovan retired after the LA Galaxy won the MLS Cup in December, and he took to Facebook on Tuesday to update fans on what he's been doing since he walked away from playing at age 32.
"Retirement has been everything I could have hoped for," Donovan wrote. "I've enjoyed trips to Peru and Ecuador to visit orphanages, Bandon Dunes Golf Course in Oregon, India and the Maldives. There are many more trips to come and I can't wait! I've also had more time with my family and close friends over the last 2 months than I had in the previous 16 years combined."
Donovan also revealed his engagement to girlfriend Hannah Bartell.
"I'm in the process of enrolling in college and have started many other exciting ventures that I've always been passionate about," he continued. "Lastly, and most importantly, I recently got engaged to the love of my life, Hannah. I have never been this happy and I'm excited for our future together!"
